House & Dog Sit - Ritzie

I just finished house and dog sitting for one week in Medlow Bath which is a small town in the upper Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia. I got to spend some quality time with Ritzie the dog. He is old and prefers to jump up on the lounge and sleep all day though when it came to going out for a walk, he could not get out the door fast enough. The weather was very chilly, and it rained most of the time.

One morning I woke up freezing and realized that the power had gone out. Well, this would be the first time that this has happened to me while housesitting, so I freaked out a little. I messaged the host and did not hear back from her for a while. It was early in the morning, so I am sure she was still asleep. I messaged a friend of mine who has been house sitting for an exceptionally long time and he suggested to me a few options. I soon found out that it was not just the house but the whole of the town. I could not find anything online about the power cut as I was hoping there would be some sort of information on when it would be going back on. I contacted someone, who I thought was a good friend, who lives in the next town to see if he had power, and he did. I was hoping he would ask me to come over and stay warm until the power went back on, but he was not such a good friend. Thankfully, the power went back on after a couple of hours. During my stay I also had a few Magpies visit. Each day I would go out and call out letting them know that I have some food for them.

The week went by so fast and it was time to start packing the car again.
